Water Transfers Stopped until March 2027

A while back Charlotte Mecklenburg Water requested to increase the amount of water they are allowed to pull out of the Catawba River Basin. The best I can remember, their current transfer is around 33 million gallons per day. Our local governments are generally in opposition to an increase. This effort has been temporarily halted after legislative action by the General Assembly which was signed into law by the governor. During this temporary halt and prior to March 2027, this issue will be studied by the University of North Carolina. While not a permanent solution, the current hold is good news for those of us along the Catawba River!!!
