NPD Chase Officer Involved Shooting

On June 26, 2025, just before midnight, the Newton Police Department pursued a male individual on a motorcycle into Conover. The male individual was fatally shot by a Newton officer.

A second degree murder indictment was handed down today against the Newton Police lieutenant involved in the shooting.
